Nature Description: Colorless to white crystalline powder, no foul. A sweet, the sweetness of sucrose about 70%. Dissolved in water, ethanol-soluble and insoluble in ether. With optical activity. Racemic type (dl-) amino acid melting point 295 oC (decomposition), 200 oC sublimation. L - (l-) - 2-amino-acid melting point of 297 oC (decomposition); D - (d-) body temperature 295 oC (decomposition). L - (l-), hydrogen chloride body for irregular crystals, melting point of 204 oC (decomposition); L - (l-) - N-acetyl-crystal melting point of 116 oC; Its N-phenyl-crystal 152-154 oC melting point.
